If you’ve ever felt stuck on Medium, wondering why your articles aren’t getting the traction they deserve despite pouring in countless hours of research, drafting, and editing, you’re not alone. I was there. My engagement graph, as you can see in the image above, tells the story of how my page was relatively flat for weeks, with a handful of reads and a discouraging plateau. But over the course of just two weeks, my views skyrocketed.

The spike wasn’t an accident, nor was it sheer luck. It was a result of a calculated strategy that I’ll walk you through step by step. These are the very things I did to 5X my views and reads on Medium, turning my writing into something more visible and impactful. If you follow this, you’ll have a roadmap to improve your results.

1. Content Revamp: Focusing on What Readers Actually Want

The first step in growing your Medium presence is making sure your content is something people genuinely want to read. For a while, I was writing about topics that I found interesting but weren’t necessarily aligned with what the majority of readers on Medium cared about.

Medium’s audience thrives on trending topics, timely insights, and personal stories that resonate with their own experiences. I spent hours researching what was trending on Medium in my niche and adapted my writing accordingly. I scoured publications, checked out the “Trending” and “For You” sections, and read articles with thousands of claps to understand what elements kept readers engaged.

Here’s what I found worked:

  • Lists and How-Tos: Actionable advice remains a favorite on Medium. Readers love structured content like “5 Ways to Improve Your…”, “The Ultimate Guide to…”, and “How to Achieve…”.
  • Personal Anecdotes with Universal Appeal: Readers connect deeply with personal experiences that also offer them a take-away. The best articles blend the personal with the practical.
  • Timeliness: Capitalizing on current events, especially in areas like politics, tech, or culture, can give your articles a huge boost. I started writing about things that were happening right
